This 15 day/14 night Kerala birding journey is a carefully curated exploration of four distinct ecosystems: wetlands, forests, grasslands, and coastal habitats, each offering exceptional birdlife, from endemic species of the Western Ghats to migratory visitors that arrive at this unique time of year.
Designed for both passionate birders and curious beginners, this is not a checklist trip. It is an immersive, field-based experience shaped by years of personal exploration, with a strong focus on learning, observation, and connection. New birders are welcomed into a supportive, educational environment, while experienced birders can expect an exciting diversity of sightings and the opportunity to learn from expert local naturalists.
This is an active journey. Expect early mornings, time on foot, forest walks, and opportunities for nocturnal birding. We move beyond roadside viewing and into the habitats themselves, accessing both iconic locations such as Thattekad and carefully chosen lesser-known hotspots. While some well-known areas can be busy, we also have access to more remote birding locations. Most days are thoughtfully structured in sections, allowing for midday rest and time to recharge.
Three nights of comfortable, well-organized camping provide access to prime birding locations at the best times of day, balanced with carefully selected accommodations and a scheduled rest day that still offers optional birding. Cultural experiences are woven throughout, including traditional performances, local chocolate tasting, and optional Ayurvedic massage.
At its core, this journey is about meaningful travel, supporting local communities, working with ethical partners, and creating space to truly experience one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet.

Traveling in a small group, guests are guided by experienced local naturalists and personally accompanied by Dawn throughout the journey, ensuring continuity, comfort, and a deeper understanding of the landscapes and culture. There are also opportunities to encounter other wildlife along the way, adding to the richness of the experience.
